Play a key role in the next global SaaS and Cloud success stories from New Zealand

Memia Cloud Consulting is focussed on building deploying and implementing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications and solutions for our customers- we are currently developing the next global SaaS success stories from our base in central Christchurch, Canterbury.

We are always looking for key people to fill a number of roles on our current projects either on a Contract or Permanent basis:

2x Java Developers for Greenfield FX trading platform

Google Apps Consultants

SaaS Developers - XHTML, CSS, Ruby on Rails or ASP.NET

SaaS / Web 2.0 Test Analysts

2x Java Developer Roles - Greenfield FX Trading Platform

We have two exciting new Java development roles to work on a Greenfield project building an online foreign exchange trading platform as part of an international team. The roles will involve building connectivity to external markets/exchanges, algorithmic pricing, hedging and prop-trading strategies, order and risk management systems and low-latency delivery of data to thousands of users across the globe.

The right candidates will join a small elite team of experienced developers who are responsible for all server-side development of this new platform. The roles will be involved in all stages of development: requirements discussions/documentation, design discussions, coding, testing, delivery into production, infrastructure management.

Working primarily with Java-based technologies, this is a rare opportunity to showcase your skills on the world stage.

Required technical skills and experience

  • At least 3 years' experience in building large complex systems, ideally finance related
  • Excellent Java server-side programming skills
  • Excellent understanding of good software engineering practices and object-orientated design: building performant systems, multithreading, a good understanding of garbage collection
  • Experience with SQL, databases and object-relational mapping
  • Experience with JMS or other asynchronous messaging apis and implementations
  • Experience with build and deployments, for example, Ant, maven, shell scripting
  • Proficient with linux/unix.

Desired personal attributes

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision but knowing when to ask questions rather than making assumptions
  • Strong communications skills: there will be a need to deal regularly with other architects/senior developers in the UK.
  • A strong analytical approach to problem solving: being able to see the big picture when designing solutions and having the endurance to drill into all the detail.
  • Have a good balance between assertiveness and the ability to accept constructive feedback.

Position information

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Duration: 3 months initially
  • Remuneration: Market rate
  • Based: Central Christchurch

What we can offer:

  • Market-competitive remuneration
  • City Centre office location on Cashel Mall
  • Relaxed flexible working environment
  • Get to be part of a world class team using the latest Cloud-based technology
  • Be part of a global success story based right here in Canterbury

If this role describes you and fits in with *your* career ambitions, please send your CV in confidence to Ben Reid, Director: ben.reid@memia.com

Note:  You have to be able to work in New Zealand to apply for these jobs.
